Monuculiseren – Connection in Motion (work in progress)
Monuculiseren is a movement project that explores connection in a literal sense. Using so-called dance sticks, long colourful sticks with soft balls at the ends. held together by two people joint movements emerge between individuals who do not know each other and who normally exist in separate social, cultural, or generational worlds.
The physical constraint imposed by the stick opens up new forms of collaboration, attunement, and play. Movement becomes a negotiation: a search for balance, direction, and closeness. Duos become trios, and trios become larger groups. In this way, temporary sculptures and choreographies are created, where tension, humor, vulnerability, and imagination come together.”
The project investigates how bodies relate to one another when they choose to move together — like a living molecule. Monuculiseren exists at the intersection of performance, participation, and visual research, and evolves through workshops, performances, and visual documentation.
